Easy Orange Peanut Sauce

- ½ cup peanut butter see notes
- ½ cup orange juice
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce use Tamari or coconut aminos for gluten-free
- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon maple syrup
- ½ teaspoons miso paste
- 1-2 teaspoons Sriracha or sambal oelek or another chili sauce
- 2 cloves garlic minced or pressed, see notes
- 1 teaspoon ginger minced or grated, see notes
Mix the peanut butter, soy sauce, rice vinegar, maple syrup, and orange juice in a small bowl.
Add the miso paste, sriracha, garlic, and ginger. Mix well.
Taste and adjust the flavors. Add more orange juice or a tablespoon of water to make it thinner if desired.
Make 1 ½ cups.
- Use cashew butter, almond butter, sunflower seed butter, or tahini (sesame seed paste) if you need a substitute for peanut butter. If using tahini, you may need to adjust the maple syrup and other ingredients.
- Store peanut sauce in the refrigerator, in an airtight container or sealed jar for 1 week. Freeze for 3 months. Stir before serving.
- A great alternative to sriracha is sambal oelek (Indonesian chili paste). Always check labels to ensure your chili paste is vegan.
- Substitute ½ teaspoon garlic powder.
- Substitute 1 teaspoon ginger paste or ¼ teaspoon ginger powder.
